EMI'S BENTO

Top comparment: Grapes; cantaloupe slices with pomegranate seeds.

Bottom comparment: Chococat-shaped, shiso-flavored rice ball with nori for fur, daikon slices for ears, soba noodles for whiskers, and a piece of confectionary decoration for the nose; lettuce and carrot shavings around edge.

SIERRA'S BENTO

Pink Compartment: Greek pasta salad (recipe from foodnetwork.com)
Yellow Compartment: Fruit Snack and olives in heart containers, fake Trader Joe's brand 'chicken,' star cut-outs of pita bread with hummus spread and feta cheese.
Blue compartment: For my dad :) A "spongebob" sandwich made of pita bread, hummus spread, feta cheese, olive slices, and fake chicken. The top, cheddar cheese, Cheez-its, nori cuts, and more pita bread! On the side: Greek yogurt.

ELLIE'S BENTO

Top Compartment: Yakisoba stir-fry noodles with mushrooms and broccoli, french fries, edamame, plastic edame shaped soy sauce container (pretending to be one of the edible edamames :p).

Bottom Compartment: Totoro shaped rice balls (white rice and gray/black rice made by mixing white rice with ground black sesame seeds) with mushroom eyes and nori features, corn and edamame.

Sadly this week, we only had two people. :( But on the brightside, I think this week's bentos were both really good. This is my second week making a character bento (キャラ弁) and I think I'm really liking it. And this Wednesday both Emi and I had character bentos and I think it was very cute.

EMI'S BENTO

Top Compartment: Pineapple chunks, strawberry slices, and broccoli heads; one Newton's Own Mint Crème cookie cut in half.

Bottom Compartment: Badtz Maru-shaped rice ball with nori and daikon features; sliced kamaboko, strawberries, and broccoli heads around edges.

ELLIE'S BENTO

Top compartment: Nimono (simmered vegetables): bamboo, carrots, shitake mushrooms, konnyaku. Edamame and apple cut in the shape of a bunny.
Bottom compartment: Lettuce, edamame on animal toothpicks, broccoli, corn, riceball in the shape of Hello Kitty with nori eyes and whiskers, corn nose, and carrot decoration on the ear.

EMI'S BENTO

Top compartment: Bed of lettuce, border of dried apricots and grapes, tin foil holder with avocado and plum slices (covered with lemon juice to prevent discoloration!).
Bottom compartment: Left side: Bed of lettuce, takuan (pickled radish) slice, pieces of cantaloupe, ikaten (squid tempura) pig with takuan for snout and colored toothpicks, sprinkled with shiso. Right side: Shiso rice, blue cupcake decoration sprinkles, quail egg mouse with red and yellow cupcake decoration sprinkles for eyes and ears and colored toothpicks, dried berry border, plastic grass.

This was the first bento I made in the morning instead of the night before, so it was put together rather quickly! Top compartment: chocolate muffin, mandarin oranges, cheese cubes. Bottom compartment: I <3 Bento ;) Thermos: Instant udon noodle soup- Yum!
